- The product must be the only object in the photo
- Products should fill 85% or more of the image frame, with limited whitespace in the background
- Backgrounds need to be pure white, which is RGB 255, 255, 255 on the color wheel
- The full product needs to appear in the frame
- The image must have smooth edges, as opposed to jagged edges.
Amazon alternative image design guidelines:
- No pornographic, racist or otherwise offensive images are allowed (it goes without saying that this also applies to the main product listing photo)
- The image must either be of or pertain to the product being sold
- The photo needs to be in focus, professionally lit, and presenting realistic colors
- Other products or objects are permitted, as long as they can help demonstrate the use or scale of a product
- The product and props should take up at least 85% of the frame
- Close-up images are allowed
- You can have environments in the background, or show the product in use
- Text and graphics are allowed as long as they’re useful and correspond to the product

Additional limitations apply for uploading the offer level images. The most important one is that an image size must not exceed 2000 x 2000 pixels.
Mind the entire frame
Before you go and edit product images, you should know a thing or two about composition and framing. You should never crop off parts of the product and you should always aim for the symmetry. Never lose sight of the entire frame. You must pay attention to the edges when editing the photo (of course, assuming that the photo was taken with the entire object in the frame).
Remember that you need to have 85% of the image covered by the product. A such you want to get your product close to the edge as possible, however, making sure you are not cropping it away.
Provide important information about the image

Prohibited For Main Listing Images Only
Above, we have listed Amazon image requirements and guidelines for the main listing image, however, since it is extremely important to be in line with the rules here, we decided to list thing that is prohibited for the main listing image:
- No drawings or illustrations of the product are allowed.
- The image must not contain gratuitous or confusing additional objects.
- The image must not be out of focus, poorly lit, show misleading color, or be of poor quality in any way.
- Jewel cases, promotional stickers, and cellophane are not allowed.
- White background must not cover more than 15% of the image.
- No edges of the product should be cropped.
- Backgrounds must be no other color than pure white (RGB 255,255,255).
- The image must not contain additional text, graphics, or inset images.
- Pornographic and offensive materials are not allowed.
For Clothing only
Amazon has certain additional rules set in place when it comes to apparel images. Below is the list that you should apply to your editing if you are working on clothing images.
